Wow, good find. I'll mark my calendar for that.

But wait, the Beasties are performing, not amongst the honorees? Just checking...

... who knows.. maybe next year.. it would be great.. but who would perform one of their songs... would they go to a white act by default, or try to broaden their scope a bit? (flavor flav, xzibit, outkast)

Confirmed to perform! Yay! This performance will be nice for all the people who can't travel to attend any shows on the tour.

Run-DMC, Tupac among VH1 Hip Hop honorees
By CARLA HAY, Billboard Bulletin

NEW YORK--Run-DMC, Public Enemy, Tupac Shakur, KRS-One, Sugar Hill Gang, DJ Kool Herc, Rock Steady Crew, DJ Hollywood and the Graffiti Movement will be the honorees at the inaugural VH1 Hip Hop Honors. The event will take place Oct. 3 at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom; VH1 will air the show Oct. 12 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Public Enemy, Sugar Hill Gang, Beastie Boys, Nas and Chic are confirmed to perform.

VH1 aims to make the show an annual event.

A VH1 spokesperson says that the honorees were voted on by an executive committee that includes in-house VH1 staff and the show's consulting producers Nelson George and Fab Five Freddy.

I'm really looking forward to this, a whole lot. Great inductees list, great performing line up, and awesome concept.

I just hope they play Open Letter To NYC. That'd fucking RULE.
