Now, I am not trying to say they are not hot anything, but why is there a general preference by men for women with large breasts?

Breasts aren't actually for men as such, sure they might be fun, but small or large there is no difference functionally, so why do big breasts look attractive?

And why is it now that society dictates that large breasts are better, and make many women feel like they need surgery to enhance themselves in this region? Do you know anyone who has had a breast operation? I guess I understand if some women who may have been very flat-chested, have their reasons. But what about the women that chose ones that are just look way too big and obviously fake?

I am really really sick of mine. Yesterday I went shopping with a friend, and I couldn't buy ONE thing that buttoned/zipped up the middle, even if it was XL, because of my boobs. Scientifically men are attracted to larger ones correct...through natural sexual selection (evolution). big boobs represent fertility (healthy, able to care for children).
This came about due to the bioligical truth that good proportions (wider hips, slimmer tummies, ample bossoms) do indicate better health and childrearing (the biological goal of every living organism- to procreate), and will have more and healthier babies....
and thus those that were attracted to such women would have more and healthier babies...
more genes passed on...
this innate attraction became the biological norm...LONG before higher consciousness and culture expanded.

Biology can't explain culture in itself.. It's a plausible explanation for how cultural practices have developed but my opinion is that it's very hard to point out something as totally "natural", as our perception of naturality is colored by culture.

Anyway, this thread reminds me of the one I started about asses a year and a half ago or so. I don't remember what was said, though, and I'm too lazy to dig it up. As for your question, I don't know what's so great about breasts, but something about them is intriguing for me as a guy. However, size doesn't matter much to me (although oversized boobs frighten me).

I saw some statistics on plastic surgery recently. Breast enlargement was number one on the list, breast shrinking was number two iirc. Odd.

I don't see the alleged flatness. I'm not a native english speaker so the word "flat" for me means a straight surface.. :P Those didn't look like 10 year olds, anyhow. And what's the balance for? Not falling backwards because there's no boobs to weigh them down?

It seems like larger women (i.e. overweight) have breast reductions while skinny women have enhancements, in general. You can see the ribs protruding on some of the skinnier ones in the second set of images.

On the enhancement page, I thought the first 4 women looked fine before, and their enhancements looked fake.

But I can't believe how much better the women looked who got reductions. Several of them looked like they lost weight overall after the reduction. I've had a few friends who got breast reduction operations and they also lost weight overall after the surgery. I wonder why that is. I wonder if they simply found it easier to exercise afterwards, or the increased confidence was encouraging, or if there is some hormonal loss from the reduction; a loss in hormones that were keeping their metabolism slower.

Actually it was her idea. This is an actual person who I do plan to marry one day. She already has a child, but wants two more as do I. She's unhappy with the affect the baby had on her breasts the first time, and we talked about a reduction but again we still want two more kids so figured we'd wait. Thanks for your input though.

It's not a matter of intellect and free will as much as of cultural constructions - our present day cultural constructions of, for instance, "ideal bodies" arrived to what they are now long after we got a free will and a conscious intellect. Of course, one can explain why guys like breasts with the evolutionary argument but sometimes the biological factor is distorted or even overshadowed by cultural aspects. Thus it's hard to claim that it's more "natural" to like huge breasts than small ones, for instance. That's my view on it, at least.
