View Full Version : Do you look your age?

a week before christmas i was in WHSmith's buying stuff and when i got to the counter, i thought i'd buy some cigarettes while i was there. i asked for the cigs and the woman behind the counter asked me how old i was, i was shocked and even forgot my age because i haven't had trouble buying cigarettes for a long time. i've been smoking since '93.

and then last week, i was in a shop buying some super glue to fix my hanger, i got to the counter and the girl behind the counter asked "how old are you?" i told her and she sold it to me.

i suppose it's good to look young but seriously, this kind of thing shouldn't be happening to me anymore

I'm not sure what a 37 year old woman is supposed to look like. I don't think I look particularly younger than I am, but fairly often people will respond with some small surprise when I tell them my age. Maybe not now that I have had the baby, who knows, maybe that's putting a few years on me LOL. We'll see. I know that when I was back in the US they were still asking to see my ID whenever I tried to buy wine in the supermarket, which was actually really friggin' annoying, because I have a NJ paper license, which is non-photo, and they didn't want to accept that. Pain in the ass that was.

I'm 27 and I get carded for smokes all the time and bartenders/doorman look at my ID for a long time when I go to bars.

on my 21st birthday I went home to michigan to have dinner and go out with friends, our waitress at the restaurant refused to serve me because she thought my ohio ID was fake. she had to have the manager look at it and they had to get out this big manual and yadda yadda. I was like, "I'M 21! WHY WOULD I PRETEND IT'S MY BIRTHDAY?!" and then they confirmed it was real and gave me a free drink and free dessert.

at my 26th birthday dinner, the waiter said, "I don't believe you're a day over 18" and refused to serve me. my entire table of friends was 25+ years old and everyone showed their IDs and I had to be like, "so we all have fake IDs then?" and proceeded to tell him my birth year, when I graduated high school and college. and he finally hesitantly got me a drink. it was a bunch of bullshit.

my 21 year old coworker thought I was around 20.

it runs in the family and is a blessing though. my mom usually passes for 10+ years younger. people mistake us for sisters a lot too. once a man at target said to his wife, "I think those ladies are twins". ha ha. my mom was flattered and I was like, "hey!"

i get carded all the time too. and everyone thinks im 20, if they dont think im 17. i guess unless you wear a lot of makeup and you dont look rough (and by rough... well, you know what i mean), you can pass for younger for the most part. keep healthy! dont tan! those chicks that are constantly tan are the ones who tend to "look their age".

I'm 33 and people say I look around 25/26.

Looking in the mirror recently though I think i seriously need to invest in a decent eye cream. Those fine lines are beginning to creep in... :(

no one ever guesses my age, and many are truly shocked to find out that i am old enough to have 2 kids, and that the oldest is 12.

a homeless dude the other day said i looked to young to be owning the car that i have, and said "what, you're like 19 at best?" guess that's hard life on the streets -- it makes non-street people look much younger. part of that though is he thinks i'm cute.

^ and squinting. i refuse to squint, so i'll wear sunglasses even when it's mostly cloudy. i swear that helps. 37 and still no crow's feet. *crosses fingers, knocks on wood, etc.*

People usually are spot on as far as my age. If I shaved, I would look a few years younger, probably about 17-18, but that's just based on how I look, face-wise. So, I'd say I look at least my age, maybe a year or two younger.

Interestingly, people think my dad is 35 when he's really 45, and since I look a lot like him, I figure I'll be lucky like that.

Y'see this is me. Even when i wear sunglasses I squint a bit. And i frown when i'm concentrating. I'll be botoxed to high heaven by the time i'm 40.

people usually appraise me around 6 to 7 years younger, but at times I have been told I'm 10 years younger (y)

I guess that's one of the benefits of being a hip college adult

when i was 19 people always thought i was 24 or 25. they said because i acted much older than i was. and now that i'm 22 i usually get 19 or 20.

I went to a job interview a couple years ago, and as soon as I walked in, the lady said "you do know you need to be 18 to apply for this position, right?"

They still asked for my ID at the liquor store when I was 32, and once even at 39, but then she just saw my snowboarder clothes, not my face.

When I was 30 my boyfriend's friend thought I was 24, Jim said it must've been the Body Shop's Elderflower Eyegel that I'd been using for almost ten years...

At my age I don't quite know what you're supposed to look like, but my facial features have changed an awful lot the last five-seven years (and tits totally flopped).

i still get carded when buying cigarettes all the time, even once in awhile at the places i always buy them. A couple weeks after i started my new job one of my coworkers asked me if i was 21 yet so i could join them for drinks after work. i guess it's a good thing.

when i was 14, i was the designated cigarette and alcohol buyer. i've always looked about 5 years older. i think it has to do with the expression on my face. people guess me about 25 now.

i'm 23 but someone actually told me today that i looked like a teenager. not that 23 is old, of course, but they get a fast-track ticket to the christmas card list.
my imaginary christmas card list.

i have never in my life got ID-ed for anything, but then again britain is by no means as hardcore as america is about that shit. for serious, peachy? that stuff is crazy.

i thought 27, then checked your profile.

legal age is 18 here, i always get checked at pubs/clubs, but never at liquor stores.

people usually think i'm early 20s (im 25). i look pretty innocent because of my freckles, also i always wear sunscreen so skin is still on the youthful side, and i'm short. my friends are kind of young looking too. i dress pretty young, just jeans sneakers and tops.

clean shaven I get IDed for booze, but with my stubble, which is nearly constantly there, I look about 25. which is a total coincidence.

probably cause i'm skinny and i lack the ability of growing facial hair.

Everytime I go home to California (or anywhere in the States for that matter) I get carded and it usually shocks me because I've been living overseas since 1999 and it seems like America is the only country in the world that cards people, but then of course I am happy that I still look young enough for have to prove my age;) .

When I was in high school, I was told I looked younger than I actually was. Like, they guessed 15 when I was almost 17. Pissed me off.

People guess that I'm around my age, now. I've gotten a guess of 24 when I was 22.
