I took my nephew to see this show and I realized I wasn't much older than he is when I first heard the B-Boys...I was in fourth grade when License to Ill came out and someone brought the LP to school and we got in trouble for playin Paul Revere on the teacher's turntable...I specifically remember she didn't approve of the "quart of beer" part...anyway, this was the first time I saw them and it was definitely a dream realized...great show from start to finish...Hopefully I can catch them again...as for my nephew, I the the B-Boys have a new fan...Oh and thanks to the guy that gave him some earplugs before the show!

Beastie Boys are such an awesome introduction to a live show for a kid. I've taken 4 of my nephews to BBoys shows. My oldest one in 98 for the HN tour, and my other brother's 3 boys to this tour. The youngest (13) was kind of nervous and wasn't sure he wanted to go... it absolutely blew his mind. I think Beastie Boys definitely have a new fan in him.

Yeah, he couldn't get enough...he was standing on his chair the whole time trying not to miss anything...the bass for Talib Kwali freaked him out a bit...he kept asking me if it was safe to feel the bass like that...actually I'm not sure if it is or not...hehe. Anyway...I hope to take him again...

Really though I have floor GA tickets to the show here in Austin next Friday and both of my lame-ass friends bowed out on me now I'm stuck w/ the extra ticket and nobody to tag along. So I was thinking of taking my 8 yr old son who is a big fan of the Boys, has all the CD's, gear, the whole 9, but I'm worried it might be a bit too much for a kid that young to take in especially on the floor cuz I know that shit gets a bit rowdy. Anyway if anybody has any thoughts on that I'd love to hear them.

My nephew is 8, but we sat in the seated section...it didnt seem the floor was too rowdy in the Patriot Center and there were plenty of places to go on the fringe of the crowd...the main thing I would be worried about would be him being able to see. My nephew stood on the chair the whole time to see, which work...not really possible on the floor. So, it's really hard to say, but if you think it's at all possible...take him. GET EARPLUGS FOR HIM...very important..something I overlooked...luckily a kind gentleman gave him some.

hmm...i wouldn't have brought a kid with me where I was sitting, someone actually sparked an L right next to me! We were sitting right in front of portal 6 (Sec. 109) and none of the event staff said anything to him until he practically smoked it all

Yeah, I smelled a bit here and there...not really worried about him seeing that...I mean he probably wouldn't even have noticed. Now, if it was me smoking, then that would be an issue...

the show was indeed tight. I travelel out a ways too and walked through the door right as they started. I was so eager to see them since the 9:30 show this past summer that I had an extra ticket in my pocket and I gave it to a friend who was there volunteering for the voting booth. He kept it as a suvenier (sp?) well worth it. the beer garden closed to early though.

Great Pageant!
About seventeen years ago (someone can come up with the real date) I saw Beastie Boys as an opening act for Public Image Ltd.
How delicious to see them now again with my 17 year old nephew.
I wore the earplugs, he declined.
Did I mention?
Great Pageant!

On August 10, 1944, Red Barrett of the Boston Braves pitched a complete game against the Reds with only 58 pitches.

Man...it's been many moons since I last signed on, but I too was at the Fairfax show and I appreciate Justin bringing up the show once again! The only difference between many of you in this thread and myself, is that I have NOT been listening to the show every week...sadly, I just am not advanced enough to be able to download the show from anywhere. Thus, I never looked into how to obtain a copy.

This being said...I'm hoping that my post will strike a kind soul who might be able to burn me a CD copy of that show (and if possible, the Philly gig, which was the other show I went to). They played Time To Build for the first time ever, and that was something I held as being quite special. If YOU can help get a copy into my hands, PLEASE contact me via email if possible (PM would be secondary but acceptable as well). You can reach me at: u2buzz@yahoo.com

We can work out all of the details of a possible deal/trade at that time. Please help me get this show!!!

Did I already mention that I need a copy of this show?!
