Default Biggie (give your input)

I have seen numerous people saying Biggie is one of the greatest rappers, personally I don't understand why, I have nothing against him in any way, if you don't care put your reasons why here. go!

honestly, i had never heard anyone say big was the greatest before canibus said in 2nd round K.O "cuz the greatest rapper of all time died on march 9th" and it seems like after that, everyone was saying "big was the illest"...

big was definitely great, but the greatest?? I'm not so sure about that...In my opinion it would be Jay Z, but thats just me...

true he was sick as hell, but to me he died to early with only 2 lp's and with cuts here and there, how can he be considered #1 ? longeveity is not common in hip hop and for artisit to be the goat i think they have to be around for a while with there imprint in hip hop over different eras. i love big he was nice as hell his voice was so tight on a mic but the best i dont know defenetly one of the best

I never could understand any of this either. Biggie, Jay-Z, Tupac, Nas. What the hell makes any of them stand out so much that thousands of people would say "that guy is the best ever" They have their moments but they are all extremely overrated. I love hip hop music and I could never narrow it down to the five best of all time let alone the single greatest ever. How can people be so shallow minded.

Biggie...
The only reason that Big is considered a legend is because he died. Pac was a legend while he was still alive and ~frankly~ if any other east coast rapper that Tupac had beef with died shortly after Pac, he would have been granted the title of "Legend". Big was talented for sure but, he didn't/doesn't deserve to be called a legend.

biggie was unique. he put words together in a way that many didn't and don't in hip-hop music. he was a street poet. no doubt.

I always enjoyed biggie more than tupac, but thats not to say he was a better rapper. I just think he went for a style of rap that was more funky. And his voice was smooth

I like his funky style, but aint heard much stuff. I'm more from the alternative rock side of beastie boys fans than the hip hop side. Good cross over though for a band eh?

I heard some tupac and it sounded very mainstream. Is this just me, or was it a crap song? I prefer more NWA, beastie, public enemy style hip hop.

I appreciate everyones input so far, I didn't have a clue why some people were putting him as one of the best rappers and so on, this gave me more to look into, I was and am more of a pac fan, I never have had anything against Big I just never have really listened to his music I'm going to see about picking some up now. I remember seeing someone say he only had two cds out so any suggestions on which one I should pick up?

Biggie's flow and lyrics were sweet...his whole style was just badass. He's not the best but definitely high on the list. It would've been interesting to see if he woulda kept makin good music or sucked ass like the rest of Bad Boy
