I think that proper spelling and proper grammar is kind of like proper attire. Yeah; you might be the best qualified for the job, but if you show up in a wife beater and a last year's gym shorts, it just makes it a little harder for others to recognize it. It gives your thoughts -- rightly or wrongly -- a patina of sheer, backwoods ignorance.

I don't really point out mistakes because I OFTEN have mistakes.

But when someone has mistakes, oh, I don't know, at least 3 times within one post they make, I really, REALLY want to fix them. It's an impulse. Especially if they are trying to make a point and calling everyone else dumb.

It baffles me.
